The Wonders of Art and Technology

Isn't that wild??..

Interesting!

Sound and Vision. Two of the most amazing things that I have and cherish in my life. Art & music are two of the most important & essential things in my life. Music fuels my art making and most of the time my art has been inspired by music (in some way). Ironically, my significant other is a musician, while I am a visual artist. I need both in order to balance my life out- a long with being physically active and measuring my time. There wasn't much of a point to this blog, really. I've been under a heavy David Bowie influence lately, and am starting to notice it's effecting a lot of things I do, especially with my art. Stumbled upon that video and wanted to share. And can I just say, he is one of my favorite all-around artists?

Testing..

Woohoo! Finally, I have an excuse to have one of these -without feeling guilty. So, I am happy to say that this semester is a starting point for me! In the sense that I have now begun my journey into integrating my art with technology. This is also the beginning of my Sophomore year in college. Before college, I used to experiment/work primarily in inks, oil/chalk pastels/conte, acrylic/oils, makeup, dirt, oils..-basically anything that I could get my hands on to MAKE a mark and on any surface:

 I also enjoyed photography whenever I wasn't occupied with a drawing/painting/ collage:

After taking a Video Course in my first Spring Semester, I became.. curious.

Well, I guess it's safe to say that I have always had a lingering curiosity. It all started with online Dollz, Geocities, and a little site called NeoPets; to say the least. It was around 2002 when I was at the tender age of twelve, I would make my first attempt incorporating technology with my art. Reluctantly, I have stumbled upon some of those old, old experiments on an old Photobucket account. Hopefully I can retrieve them and post them unto here to show to have on record how fantastic my designer skills were back in the day (sarcasm).

Those memories just came back to me, as of recent. It's so strange, and yet funny, to reflect upon the past seven years of my life and the things I've discovered about (my) art, what art is/ can be, - but most importantly: it's possibilities. I am constantly changing myself, and my thoughts are also affected by this. Having just been introduced to the notion that there are a million ways to go about art making excites me, especially nowadays, when it's projected through technology, EVERYWHERE. A lot of people I've spoken to have yet to realize this. It seems as if usually the first thing people think about when they hear the word "Art" is a painting or a sculpture. They forget that this seasons fashionable trends, the sleek & new IKEA furniture they just bought, the badass guitars they play, the university hoodies they sport- and just about....everything else in the world= has been influenced one way or another by Art. One of my professors today said something like "We are all products of culture the Art that is made is born from culture, culture shapes our society"- Art is everywhere and everything, someone needs to take a message and inform everyone out there that's it's not all about Matisse or the Mona Lisa- it's more than that. Technology is changing that.. Vogue magazine, the movies that are made, iPod's recording videos, phones with stylus', you get the idea. Enough rambling..

Changes by Bowie just came on. Good timing.
